Valentine Craft Funny

When it comes to school valentines, I looked at it as another day to have to buy something else.  But then I remembered how fun it was to give out a card with some candy to my friends.  My kids should have that.

Usually the night before Valentine's Day,  I would normally go to the store and search the aisles for a package of card some leftover candy and hurry home and sit my kid down and start writing names.

Not this year.  I saw something like these on Pinterest and thought....awww how cute.  This year I was going to be a better mom and do something different.

When I let my son in on what was going to be his card this year he was.....not to thrilled, but let me snap the shot anyway.  Thanks "A."

Here's the how:

1.  Snap a shot of your child with their fist held up in front of them and a little away (towards the side).

2.  Use photoshop or any photo altering software to write what you would like on the it.

2.  Once you have them printed, using an exacto knife slice around the top of their knuckles, making a slice large enough to get the lollipop stick through and do the same on the bottom of their fist.

3.  Stick the lollipop through and there you have it!!  A fun and unique valentine.

Note: As you can see, my kid is a ham and a half....

Another idea would be to take a photo of your child holding a large blank heart, cut from posterboard.  Have the prints make and they can write something on the picture in the open space....

...just an idea.

Ode to "That Tempting Bench"

This week my husband decided to have his truck painted.  It really needed it.  So, with the truck at the shop we are down to one vehicle.  We decided that I would just take him to work after the kids went off to school.

In my wisdom I thought, "Since, I'm already down here, why not go for a run at Liberty Park."  It is a beautiful park.  It has wonderful running paths, a gazebo, lots of little play areas for kids, and the pond with boats and ducks.  BEAUTIFUL!!  The weather was perfect the last two days and I have enjoyed my time there, but then....

I ran up on to this lovely scene.  I had to capture it and at the moment I stopped moving, the thought on the picture came to me.  Funny huh?  Oh the things that one can fall in love with....when you are exercising.

If You Build It...They Will Come....I hope!

Our son will be 16 in a couple of weeks!!  And we have been trying to plan his "ELITE" 16 party.  Obstacles have come up left and right, but the party will go on.  One of his activities will be a photo booth.  Now, I am "an affordance seeker" (okay, the real word is cheap),  so to make this little dream come true I decided to make a backdrop stand and he helped.

I scoured the net trying to find the best diy and I came across a young kids post.  Click here to go to it.  He gives a supply list and the current cost (in 2012), is only a couple bucks more.  We paid about $18 with tax for all the PVC and the bonus is that they allow me to cut my pieces right there!!  Then off to work Alex went.

It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.  The pieces fit together so quick and easy.  The only thing I will do is I think I will add a cross bar in the middle and glue the T- Connector at the base.  This will give it more stability.

This will allow you to make your stand as short or tall as you like it.  Not to mention as wide as you like it....within reason of course.

Now the party is only a couple of weeks away, just need to find the backgrounds, venue, send out the invites, make cupcakes and.......I will show the pics from the party in a few weeks.
